Ngawen Market Redevelopment Awaits Completion of Auction Process

In the future, the  building design will emphasize fire  mitigation facilities and strengthen the  market security system  .

So that the great fire that occurred on January 9, 2024, does not happen again.

Head of the Regional Market Division (Kabid) of the Blora Trade, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Service ( Dindagkop UKM )   Margo Yuwono revealed that the market construction will provide eight facilities for security, mitigating fires.

"The facility is an effort to improve security, so that fires do not recur," he said.

Margo emphasized that SNI standards are the reference for the construction of  Ngawen Market .

Some of the main facilities prepared include evacuation routes to make things easier in emergencies, as well as a fire prevention system in the form of alarms and fire  hydrants .

"The building also regulates lighting and air circulation to support the buying and selling activities of traders and buyers," he said.

He added that the market security system was also strengthened by installing surveillance cameras (CCTV) inside and outside the market area.

The district government also plans to build a modern Wastewater Treatment Plant ( IPAL ) with SNI standards to accommodate liquid waste, as well as an integrated waste management system.

To support operations, Ngawen Market will be equipped with a generator set and water tank.

So, even if there is a  power outage  by PLN, buying and selling activities can still continue.

He said that the construction process is currently still waiting for the auction to be completed by the ministry.

"Currently, we're still waiting for the auction to be completed. After that, construction will begin," he said.

Regarding the budget, he revealed that the budget disbursed from the central government through the Ministry of Public Works was around IDR 38.2 billion for the reconstruction of Ngawen Market.

The vendors' stalls have been moved to the back of the market until the market is rebuilt.  (Endah/ IST )
