INFOKU, BLORA -The process of handling the oil well in Gandu Village which had caught fire has been completed.
For this reason, Pertamina EP Cepu officially handed over the post-emergency response handling of the well fire to the Blora Regency Government, Monday (1/9/2025) afternoon.
With this handover, it marks the end of the emergency response status that was established since the fire incident on August 17, 2025.
Blora Regent Arief Rohman, confirmed that conditions at the location were safe.

"Today, we mark the lifting of the emergency response status. The handover from Pertamina to the Blora Regency Government regarding the incident in Gandu has been declared safe. So residents can return to their homes," he said.
The Regent expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Pertamina, the Blora BPBD Team, the BPBD of neighboring districts and all parties who had helped with the fire handling.
He also ensured that the affected victims had received attention.
"The victims who died, were injured, and whose homes were damaged have received assistance from the District Baznas, the Provincial Baznas, and other relevant parties. Assistance has also been provided for those who lost their homes. Meanwhile, residents who are still traumatized will be accompanied by the police and the village government to ensure they feel more at ease upon returning home," he added.

Furthermore, the Regent emphasized that the Blora Regency Government will coordinate with the Central Java Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources regarding the existence of community oil wells.
"If it is indeed dangerous, it will be recommended that the permit not be granted and it must be closed according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources regulations," he stressed.
In addition, the District Government also ensured that corn fields affected by the fire extinguishing process would be replaced.
On that occasion, Pertamina EP Cepu representative, Ahmad Setiadi, said that the well closure process had been carried out in accordance with safety procedures.
" Thank God, our team, along with other agencies, helped extinguish the fire and also conducted smeting yesterday. The process involved pouring concrete to a certain depth, after which it was sealed, ensuring safety from gas leaks. We hope a similar incident will not occur again in Gandu Village, and this serves as an important lesson regarding well drilling activities in the community," said Setiadi. (Setyorini)
