INFOKU, BLORA -The rice harvest production in Blora Regency this year is above the average annual food requirement.
This has resulted in the Regency of Blora experiencing a rice surplus.
Head of the Food, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Service (DP4) of Blora Regency, Ngaliman at the Food Security Coordination Meeting, Wednesday (16/4/2025), explained that the surplus was above 70 percent of the total rice production. So that many harvests were sent out of town.
"Rice production in Blora reached 639,000 tons, the sixth largest in Central Java. If converted into rice, production becomes 310 thousand tons. While the consumption needs of the Blora community each year are only 73,000 tons, or around 24 percent of the rice consumed by Blora residents from the total production,'' explained Ngaliman.
So the rice surplus in Blora, he continued, reached around 76 percent. This is a sign that Blora has contributed its rice to national food security.
Regarding the absorption of post-harvest rice, according to Ngaliman, Bulog Blora also absorbed the second largest amount of farmers' rice in the former Pati Residency. The rest was absorbed by private agricultural business actors.
"Not only rice, Blora is also a national corn barn. Its production reaches 430,000 tons, the second largest in Central Java after Grobogan. This is an extraordinary potential. Hopefully in the future Blora farmers can be more prosperous with the certainty of prices provided by the Central Government," added Ngaliman.
Blora Regent Arief Rohman, who last week participated in the national simultaneous rice harvest from Jepangrejo Village, Blora City District, expressed his gratitude for the agricultural production achievements in Blora Regency.
"Blora can have a rice surplus of up to 76 percent, indicating that Blora is already self-sufficient in rice. Its production can be channeled to contribute to national food security. Moreover, yesterday in March, the rice harvest area in Blora reached 8th place nationally," said the Regent.
According to him, it indicates that the spirit of Blora farmers to plant is very good. Moreover, the President's policy of facilitating fertilizer and increasing agricultural machinery assistance continues to be carried out, prioritized.
