INFOKU, BLORA –Based on research in the field, cases of cattle infected with foot and mouth disease ( FMD ) are starting to decline.

Head of the Blora Food, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Service ( DP4 ), Ngaliman, told the press that from January 1 to February 10, there were 655 cases of FMD recorded.

Of that number, 421 cows recovered, while 51 died due to FMD.
The high death rate was caused by slow reporting from farmers.
"When reported, the cow has already died or is already in serious condition. That is what causes many cases of death," he said.
He also revealed that currently FMD cases are starting to decline.

The district government had closed several animal markets and carried out sterilization by spraying disinfectant in the market area to break the chain of transmission.
Now, the animal market has reopened with strict supervision.
"The market has opened, farmers can start selling again," he said.
The market was opened last Sunday (9/2).
However, to be on the safe side, they still ensure that the cattle brought to the market are in healthy condition.
