HIV/AIDS and Stunting Still Haunt Blora

INFOKU, BLORA -Stunting  and human immunodeficiency virus  and  acquired immuno deficiency syndrome  ( HIV AIDS ) are still serious problems for Blora Regency. 

At least, there are 185 people with HIV/AIDS ( ODHA ) in Blora in 2024.

And, the prevalence rate of stunting in Blora is still high. Namely, 21.1 percent. The management of  the Indonesian Doctors Association  ( IDI ) Blora and

The Blora Nutritionists Association   ( Persagi ) highlighted these two health problems.

Chairperson of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Blora for the 2024-2027 period, Dr. Dewi Ratna Sari, said that they are ready to contribute to helping with health issues in Blora Regency.

"Especially stunting and HIV/AIDS. That is our focus. This is related to the government program. We will contribute to that," he said.

He also said that  HIV  /AIDS is now starting to become a cause for concern in Blora, because the numbers continue to increase.

For this reason, he plans to increase the intensity of socialization and education for the wider community to be alert.

"We from IDI, invite colleagues to educate the public. So that HIV/AIDS can be more vigilant. For example, hold seminars, socialization, counseling," he said.

Moreover, in several cases, he said, HIV/AIDS spread to mothers and children.

"Mothers and children are infected because the father engages in risky or deviant sexual behavior. Data from the Blora Health Service ( Dinkes ) in the period January-November 2024 alone, there were 185 people exposed to HIV/AIDS," he said.

Stunting

Previously reported, the Head of DPC Persagi Blora Dicky Nur Wahyu Febrianto said that his party also made efforts and paid attention to  the  high stunting rate in Blora. According to him, suppressing stunting rates is a shared responsibility.

Moreover, the 2023 Indonesian health survey noted that the stunting rate in Blora was still quite high.

"The prevalence of stunting here is 21.1 percent. So, it must be a concern for all parties," he said.

"Therefore, community participation is very much needed, especially starting from families,  pregnant women ,  babies ,  toddlers ,  all must be considered," he added.

Dicky also emphasized that people must be able to choose  nutritious food  for a healthy family.

Therefore, his party is inviting or campaigning for a movement  to eat nutritious food  every day.

"This means that the eradication of nutritional problems must start from the family by understanding and implementing  nutritious food . At least it can meet the right carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and nutrients," he concluded.  (Endah / IST )
