DLH Blora and Kvell Conduct Laboratory Tests on River Contaminated by Lantung Well Eruption in Kedinding

To prevent  pollution ,  DLH  to  Kvell Blora Energi have taken samples and conducted  lab tests , ensuring there are no toxic gases and preventing fluid flow from entering the river.

According to Sukirno, a resident of Dukuh Kedinding, Ngraho Village, Kedungtuban District  , Blora, water  mixed with mud  and oil flowed along  the Kedinding River  to the Sogo River, which is not far from the location.

He hopes that there will be handling so as not to pollute the environment.

"In addition, when it first gushes out it produces a pungent smell," he said.

Head of the Blora Environmental Services Agency (DLH), Istadi, said that he had conducted a review with officers in the field yesterday (14/2).

It turned out that Kvell Blora Energi and  Pertamina  were already at the location to handle the flowing lantung.

"Our role is only to monitor the environment," he said.

He said, only conducting lab tests in the form of polluted water levels. Comparing upstream and downstream areas.

According to him, Kvell is more competent in conducting lab tests.

Because it has more sophisticated and standardized tools.

"The party that will carry out the test will be Kvell with a lab that has been accredited to test oil and gas samples," he explained.

Meanwhile, General Manager of KSO KVELL Blora Energi, Dedi Rinaldi, said that for the safety of all, gas measurements had been carried out in the area of ​​the incident and the results showed that there was no H2S gas or 0 ppm.

In addition, mitigation measures are carried out by creating a manual path to the reservoir to prevent fluid flow from entering the river.

"We are coordinating with stakeholders to handle this flow. All are focused on handling it together," he said.

He explained that the flow from the Lantung eruption appeared near the  Caluk  – 01 well, approximately 20 meters away and had been controlled.

The Caluk – 01 well was closed in 2017 and entered the management area by KVELL Blora Energi through the Operational Cooperation mechanism since 2023.

Meanwhile, the flow in the Kedinding-02 well is currently in the handling stage and the flow condition is at a low intensity.

It is known that, apart from the spray of water mixed with oil near well number 10 Kedinding on Thursday (13/2), another spray also occurred yesterday (14/2) located below the location of the first spray.

Head of Public Relations  of Blora Police,  AKP Gembong Widodo explained that the second eruption was an  old pipeline  that had been closed for a long time.

The eruption was in a lower area than the previous point.

"The distance is approximately 40 meters from the initial location. It is not an eruption but  a former well ," he said.
