INFOKU, BLORA – Currently, cases of dengue fever ( DBD ) in Blora are increasing, resulting in a high demand for blood .
In the last three months, monthly blood demand has increased by 40 percent.
Data from the Blora Regency Health Service ( Dinkes ) recorded that as of November 30, 2024, there were 347 cases of dengue fever with nine deaths.
The high number of dengue fever cases is what has triggered an increase in demand for blood.

Head of the Indonesian Red Cross ( PMI ) Blora, Sutikno Slamet, said that demand for blood stocks had increased drastically over the past three months.
From the initial monthly average of only 1,000 blood bags. Then, it increased to 400 bags each month.
"Usually the demand is 1,000 bags per month. But because of the rainy season and many dengue patients , the demand has increased to 1,400 bags per month," he said.
Even so, PMI Blora is still able to meet the need for blood stock thanks to the support of the volunteer donor community which is only three years old.
"Alhamdulillah, thanks to the volunteer community, we can serve the request. Hopefully, more will join next year," said Sutikno.
He also appealed to the public to actively donate blood, especially during the rainy season.
This is to help dengue fever patients who need blood transfusions.
PMI Blora continues to strive to maintain the availability of blood stocks to meet the increasing needs. (Endah/ IST )
