INFOKU, BLORA -Head of the Blora Regency Health Service, Edi Widayat, revealed that based on the latest data from 2024, thousands of cases of malnutrition with various categories were recorded in the local district.
"Starting from malnutrition to underweight, which indicates an urgent nutritional health problem," he told the press.
With this data, the malnutrition rate in Blora Regency is still high, so this condition is a serious concern for the Blora Regency Health Service (Dinkes), to continue to monitor and record the development of nutritional cases in Blora.
"There are several categories of malnutrition that we have recorded, namely malnutrition, undernutrition, underweight, and wasting or thin," he explained.
Based on the data, there were 48 cases of malnutrition, 3,571 cases of undernutrition, 3,619 cases of wasting, and 6,629 cases of underweight.
These figures, according to Edi, indicate the need for increased attention to public nutritional health, especially for pregnant women and children who are vulnerable to the impacts of malnutrition.
"Many prospective brides, teenagers, and even pregnant women are not yet aware of the importance of maintaining nutritional health, both for themselves and for the development of the baby in the womb," said Edi.
In addition, Edi also highlighted the unhealthy eating patterns of the community as one of the main causes of the high rate of malnutrition.
According to him, many people still tend to consume foods high in sugar, salt and fat.

"Public awareness in consuming healthy food is still lacking. Foods that are high in sugar, salt, and fat affect the health of the baby in the womb and its nutrition," he explained.
Fast food and high-calorie drinks were also mentioned as factors that worsened people's nutritional conditions.
Edi explained that the habit of consuming this type of food and drink in the long term can cause various serious health problems.
"One of the factors that causes people to experience malnutrition is consuming fast food and drinks," he added.
The impact, said Edi, can be the risk of chronic diseases such as stroke, cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
The Blora District Health Office, continued Edi, is currently continuing to strive to provide nutritional education to the community through various outreach programs, especially in villages.
"We are trying to increase public understanding about the importance of a healthy diet and balanced nutrition, especially for pregnant women and children," said Edi.
Edi hopes that with increasing public awareness, cases of malnutrition in Blora can be reduced significantly. (Kusumawati)
