End of 2024, Yogyakarta State University Campus & Student Dormitory Will Be Established in Blora

INFOKU, BLORA -Yogyakarta State University (UNY) will soon establish a campus in Blora Regency through the Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU).

Taking place in the Blora Regency Secretariat Meeting Room, Friday (11/10/2024), the Blora Regency Government together with UNY held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to discuss the results of the study on the establishment of the campus.

The plan is that PSDKU UNY in Blora will be built in stages from the end of 2024 to 2030 on a 5-hectare land on Jalan Mr. Iskandar, Mlangsen (South of the Blora District Office).

The development will include academic facilities, study program buildings, laboratories, research zones, mosques, and supporting facilities such as student activity centers, sports facilities, and canteens.

Director of Cooperation, Information Systems, Innovation, and Business at UNY, Darmono, explained that the study programs that will be opened in the initial stage must have Excellent (A) accreditation.

"In accordance with the regulations of the Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU), the study programs that will be opened must have Excellent or "A" accreditation. These study programs include Elementary School Teacher Education (S1), Management (S1), Accounting (S1), Informatics Engineering Education (S1), Physical Education, Health and Recreation (S1) and Sports Science (S1)," he explained.

He also said that several other study programs were being considered, such as Mathematics Education, English Education, and Craft Education.

"If the capacity of other universities in Blora is still insufficient, these study programs can be considered for opening because they have Excellent accreditation and have quite good interest," he said.

However, several study programs that have quite high interest, such as Psychology and Tourism, are still not recommended due to limited supporting facilities and accreditation.

Student Land & Dormitory

Regarding facilities, Darmono revealed that PSDKU UNY in Blora will face challenges related to limited land, especially for sports facilities, which require cooperation with the local government for the use of shared facilities.

"For Physical Education, Health and Recreation (PJKR) and Sports Science, both are accredited as superior and require adequate sports facilities, it is not possible to open them without a facility sharing agreement with the local government," he explained.

UNY Chancellor, Sumaryanto, also said that there will be a dormitory construction for first-year students. However, this will still be considered further.

"Later, a dormitory will be built that will be used by students only for the first year, but this will also still be considered," he added.

In her remarks, the Acting Regent of Blora, Tri Yuli Setyowati, expressed her gratitude to UNY and hoped that the existence of this campus could accommodate the educational needs of Blora children, while also driving the economy and the welfare of the Blora community.
