Some elements of the workforce feel that the wage council's decision is a middle way. Some other workers were disappointed.

Head of the Industrial Relations and Social Security Division of the Blora Industry and Manpower Service (Dinperinaker) Nunuk Nurul Hidayah in a press statement said that the wage council had held a meeting to discuss the UMK yesterday (21/11), and it had been agreed with representatives of workers and employers .

"It has been determined that the UMK in 2024 will increase by 3 percent from this year," he said.

Nunuk explained that this year's UMK calculation   involves several factors from the figures calculated by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) regarding inflation over a one year period.

Then gross regional domestic product (GRDP) and the contribution of workers to economic growth.

Representative of the Blora Gendhis Multi Manis (GMM) Sugar Cane Factory Workers Union, Lilik Roni, said that determining the UMK is a middle way.

The meeting to discuss the determination of the UMK has brought together several elements of workers and also entrepreneurs in the regions.

"This determination is also a win-win solution for both Apindo (Indonesian employers' association) and workers, taking the middle value," he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Federation of Cigarette, Tobacco, Food and Beverage Workers' Unions (FSP RTMM-SPSI) Blora Mahmudah admitted that he took part in the meeting.

However, his party felt disappointed with the determination of the 2024 UMK which was actually lower than other districts.

"We are disappointed, it turns out that Blora has only increased slightly, compared to neighboring cities," he said.

Mahmudah explained that neighboring districts increased by more than 3 percent.

He gave the example of Rembang and Purwodadi, the 2023 UMK is higher than Blora. Meanwhile, the 2024 UMK increase in Blora is below that of the district.

"This may be because the raw data sent by statistics from neighboring districts is higher (Rembang and Grobogan)," he said. (Endah/ IST )
