Reluctant to partner with companies, assume claims are not beneficial to tobacco farmers in Blora

INFOKU,BLORA – Whenever there is an opportunity, the Blora Regency Government continues to encourage cigarette companies to build partnerships with tobacco farmers.

Not only that, it is hoped that cigarette companies will be willing to build factories in Blora.

But unfortunately, many farmers are reluctant to partner with companies.

"The farmers in our group don't want to partner with companies like tobacco farmers in the north," said Waris, Chair of the Mendenrejo Village Tobacco Farmers Group, Kradenan District.

Waris admitted that he was worried that the company would not take responsibility when the tobacco harvest failed. Namely, farmers' tobacco is not purchased.

According to him, if you have a partnership, the harvest fails or is successful, the company must still buy tobacco.

"It's good to just sell it straight away, we've also had people buy it without a company partnership," he said.

Meanwhile, Regent Arief Rohman admitted that recently there was a company planning to build a partnership with tobacco farmers.

They welcomed this wish. In fact, Arief encouraged the company to set up a factory in Blora.

''I thank PT. Sadhana Arifnusa Rembang who has partnered with the Blora community. "Especially those who work as tobacco farmers , " he said.

The Regent took the tobacco farmers directly to the tobacco warehouse owned by PT Sadhana Arifnusa. The company bought tobacco from Blora covering an area of 800 hectares.

"The potential of Blora tobacco is very good, so it is necessary to facilitate assistance from pre-planting to post-planting with PT Sadhana Arifnusa," he explained.

Unfortunately, there are some tobacco farmers who are reluctant to partner with companies, because they claim it will not benefit farmers.

Head of the Horticultural Crops Division of the Blora Food, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Service, Rosalia Dyah Erawati, revealed that the development of the cooperation between companies to establish factories is not yet known.
