The Bantul Earthquake Shakes Blora, Residents: Suddenly Mbiyut-mbiyut


INFOKU, BLORA - An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 6.4 centered in Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), was also felt in the Blora region, Central Java.

"I thought a big bus. If the bus is shaking, but how come it's shaking," said a resident of Blora, Isnaini Nafisah, to detikJateng, Friday (30/6/2023).

Isnaini is a resident of Punggursugih Village, Ngawen District, Blora Regency.

He admitted that he did not have time to run out of the house or ask for help because he was still thinking whether the shaking was really an earthquake or not.

"I didn't get out of the house. I'm still thinking, this motorbike is passing or it is missing," he said.

Another resident, Supatmi, feels the same way. At that time Supatmi was in the room.

"Earlier I was lying down with my child. Suddenly, I was dizzy. This is my head, which is dizzy or aching, or I am confused," he explained.

The shock that occurred in Blora, Central Java, occurred at 19.59 WIB. Residents felt the earthquake for a few seconds.

Based on monitoring on the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) website, the June 30, 2023 earthquake at 19.57 WIB occurred in the southern sea.

Precisely at 86 kilometers southwest of Bantul, DIY, at a depth of 25 kilometers. According to the BMKG, there is no potential for a tsunami with a magnitude of 6.4, according to the BMKG.

"Be careful of aftershocks that may occur," the BMKG advised. (Endah / IST )
