INFOKU, BLORA – It seems that the mothers in Kampung Samin are quite painstaking in thickening the typical batik motifs of Sambongrejo Village.
Crops, biodiversity and the figure of Samin Surosentiko have become the identity of batik developed by the villagers next to the forest.
Puji Lestari, one of the residents of Kampung Samin, seems to be careful about making batik.
His right hand holding a canting has been dipped in a dye solution. The canting is blown slowly before it is affixed to a white cloth with a samin teak motif.
"What is typical is the Samin teak motif, a blend of teak leaves and Mbah Samin Surosentiko's picture," he said.
Several other motifs were developed such as fruits and agricultural products of the villagers, namely corn, rice, cassava leaves, and teak leaves.
"This illustrates the local wisdom of Sambong Village, we made it into a batik motif," he explained.

The villagers' batik art works have been around for a long time and have been developed better since participating in the Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) competition.
"Here there is stamped batik from PKK mothers in collaboration with tourist attractions," he said.
Batik making in Samin Village is currently used as a tour package. Visitors who come will be involved in making batik together with the villagers and the Samin people who live side by side with the villagers.

The Head of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) of Sambongrejo Village, Janurman, said educational tourism on making batik prioritizes the distinctive culture of Samin and Sambongrejo Village residents.
"We prioritize the culture and life of the Sedulur Sikep people. We have prepared various educational tours equipped with facilities and homestays for tourists visiting Samin Village," he added. (Endah / IST )
