INFOKU, BLORA - The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) of the Republic of Indonesia together with Member of the Indonesian Parliament Edy Wuryanto took concrete action to educate the people of Cepu sub-district and its surroundings, Sunday (4/6/2023).
They went to the field to take samples of a number of foods at Mulyorejo and Kapuan Markets, and were tested and found to contain dye.
From these results, BPOM invites the public to be vigilant and avoid these types of foods.
It was also conveyed that to check the quality of food in the market, members of the public could use the BPOM Mobile application on their smartphones.
Hundreds of people attended, they consisted of culinary entrepreneurs, housewives, and heads of families.
Those who attended were given education to check and ensure that the medicines, cosmetics, and food products purchased were either registered with BPOM or had permission from the P-IRT Health Office.
Not only that, the public is also invited to take advantage of the BPOM Mobile service to check product permits.

The community is also given education and understanding of the dangers of using chemical substances such as dyes for clothes and so on, which should not be used for food. So that they can produce processed food in a healthy way.
"Today we are talking about drug and food control. What we eat can cause health and can also cause disease. So we and BPOM today want to convey education regarding this matter to you," explained Edy Wuryanto when opening the activity at the Bina Field Kapuan village cadets.
He conveyed, the content of harmful substances such as clothing dyes and so on should not be present in food.
The reason is if the food is consumed continuously, it can cause disease to organ damage.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Blora Tri Yuli Setyowati, who was directly present at the activity, welcomed the educational activity.
His party revealed that healthy food intake is one of the important things, in order to create a healthy family and superior human resources.
Through this activity, the Deputy Regent hopes that people can be more selective, and have awareness of the importance of consuming food products and medicines that are healthy and do not contain substances that are harmful to the body.
On this occasion, the Coordinator of the Directorate of Cyber Medicine and Food BPOM RI, Nurjaya Bangsawan said, in drug and food control, cooperation from three pillars is needed in this case including the government, producers and the community.
In this regard, he asked the public to be able to take advantage of the BPOM Mobile service, to check whether food or drug products have been registered with BPOM or not.
"We are trying to continue socializing so that ladies and gentlemen become smart consumers, checking through the BPOM Mobile application on smartphones. There are two, namely the first way to scan the BPOM barcode on the product, then next, you can check NIE, in the application you can choose the category either number registration, or trade name, producer name. Later information will appear regarding the product whether it is registered with the POM Agency or not," he explained.

Separately, the Head of the Central Java BPOM, Lintang Purba Jaya, appealed to the public not to use hazardous materials, such as clothing dyes, for use in food ingredients.
Prior to the counseling event, said Lintang Purba Jaya, his team had taken a number of food samples from several markets in Cepu District. After being tested, his party found several food ingredients that tested positive for using clothing dyes.
"The team from the Semarang BPOM Center have taken food samples around us at Mulyorejo Market and Kapuan Market. The team has purchased food samples to test whether the food circulating in a number of these markets is safe. From the several food samples we tested, there were three positive foods. contain dyes," he explained
Among the three types of food products are Moho Cakes, a type of Red and Green Crackers, and Upil Crackers.
"What's the danger? If we consume it continuously, it can affect the kidneys. If you have kidney failure, cancer, poisoning, hypertension, it is possible that one of them is due to the use of clothing dyes in food," he concluded. (Endah/KOM)
