Ticket Prices Above IDR 1 Million, One of the Flight Constraints at Ngloram Airport

MY INFO. BLORA – Since Citilink stopped operating on March 22, until now there have been no flights at all.

The regency government hopes that other airlines will operate Ngloram Airport, Cepu, Blora district.

Regional Secretary (Sekda) Blora Komang Gede Irawadi said, according to a study by the transportation agency, the price of plane tickets was one of the reasons for the lack of flights.

The ticket fare is considered not ideal with the economy in Blora. The ideal rate is in the range of IDR 600 thousand to IDR 900 thousand. However, the ticket price reaches IDR 1 million more.

"With these considerations, we admit that it is rather difficult to cooperate with Citilink airlines. So the airline decided to stop,''he explained to  reporters.

Not only that, the Citilink airline also withdrew from Ngloram Airport because its transportation services did not reach the  minimum review score  or minimum limit.

The minimum limit should be IDR 135 million for each round-trip flight.

“Actually,  the traffic has started to increase . However, it must be admitted that the flight cannot meet the minimum limit,'' he explained.

Until now there has been no flight activation from any airline at Ngloram Airport. It is possible that in the future there will be other airlines working together to fill the airport.

He hopes there is a policy to follow up on this. Moreover, the trend of flying is still inferior to using land transportation such as trains.

"Most Blora people use the train, because it suits  their budget  ," he said.

According to him, building a market ecosystem for airports is not easy. He admitted that he had tried his best to create an ecosystem in it.

Limited funds are also the main influence of the Blora district government's difficulty in developing this.

“We still have a lot of homework, such as road infrastructure. Until after this Eid, it is certain that Ngloram Airport will have no flights until an unspecified time. Hopefully it will be resolved soon,'' he concluded. (Endah IST )
