High Organic Fertilizer Production Potential, Blora Owns 278 Thousand Cows

INFOKU, BLORA Independent use of organic fertilizers needs to be intensified.

There needs to be a concept and encouragement so that farmers switch to producing these non-chemical fertilizers.

The potential for organic fertilizer is wide open considering that Blora is a cattle breeding center that can produce compost or organic fertilizer.

This encouragement is an effort to help farmers reduce dependence on subsidized fertilizers.

This is because farmers are confused to find other alternatives. Especially, after subsidized fertilizer quotas from the center continued to decrease.

Chairman of the Blora Joint Farmers Group (Gapoktan) Yusuf Nurbaidi appreciated the organic fertilizer efforts so that farmers reduce dependence on subsidized fertilizers.

As well as being an alternative when the quota for chemical fertilizers from the central government such as urea, nitrogen phosphorus potassium (NPK) is reduced.

Previously, complaints about the availability of fertilizers were also conveyed during the district development planning meeting (musrenbang) a few days ago.

“The advantages of organic fertilizers help fertilize the soil. On the other hand, this chemical fertilizer actually affects the damage to the soil elements. For example, in the Cepu region the land has been damaged,'' he explained.

According to Regent Arief Rohman's instructions, all farmer groups in Blora make organic fertilizer from their own cow dung, considering that Blora is rich in cattle.

Moreover, the independent production of organic fertilizers and their use has begun to be stimulated by a number of universities in Indonesia.

Apart from that, the number of cattle in Blora is around 278 thousand heads. Of course, the potential for organic fertilizer production.

"All aspects have started to support. However, it is necessary to make the people aware, how to change the mindset of the farmers to be able to use this organic fertilizer immediately,'' he explained yesterday (21/3).

Head of the Food, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Service (DP4) Gundala Wejasena said it was time for farmers not to depend on subsidized fertilizers from the government. But you have to be able to independently make organic fertilizer from cow dung. (Endah/ IST )
