INFOKU, BLORA -The Blora Health Service (Dinkes) held a mobile voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) activity to detect the number of cases of HIV/AIDS.
The result, found 17 people suspected of being infected with the virus that attacks the immune system.
Most of them are commercial sex workers (PSK) who usually operate in a number of places in the district which is on the border of Central Java and East Java Provinces.
"The 17 people are new sufferers," said Head of the Blora Health Service, Edi Widayat, through the Head of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Section, Sutik, yesterday.
He explained that mobile VCT activities were carried out periodically in mid to late February 2022.
The target is groups who are vulnerable to contracting HIV/AIDS. Namely, commercial sex workers (PSK) and inmates or inmates at the Blora State Detention Center (Rutan).
"This activity is held regularly every year," said Sutik representing the Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Blora Health Office, Joko Budi Heri Santoso.
Sutik explained, in the mobile VCT, the officers carried out examinations of community groups who were at high risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as HIV/AIDS.
A total of 239 people were examined.
He added that this number had decreased compared to last year's findings which reached 27 people.

For those who tested positive for HIV, Sutik asked them to do routine treatment by taking antiretroviral (ARV) drugs.
These free medicines can be obtained at the puskesmas, at the hospital or at the Health Service.
"If the result is HIV positive, we recommend treatment," he said.
Sutik added, as many as 10 health centers in Blora have provided treatment for people with HIV/AIDS. The 10 health centers are Japah, Tunjungan, Ngawen, Doplang, Menden, Jiken and Sambong health centers. (Endah/ IST )
