INFOKU, BLORA –The real impact on local people's livelihoods is the leaking of Pertamina's pipeline in Pojokwatu Village, Sambong District, Blora Regency, Central Java, last Tuesday.
One of the farm workers, Sukini, was forced to harvest his rice due to the contamination of the crude oil.
Sukini admitted that the fields planted with rice had been contaminated with crude oil from leaking pipes belonging to Pertamina.
"The rice was hit by lantung (crude oil) as a result of the leaking of the oil pipe at the Sambong intersection to the rice fields here," said Sukini.
While harvesting, Sukini also smelled the aroma of the crude oil on the rice.
"It's still edible, but I'm afraid it's poisonous," he said.

Therefore, he asked for compensation from related parties which caused his harvest not to be maximally affected by the contamination of crude oil.
"The hope is to ask for compensation because crude oil cannot be planted," he explained.
Previously, Pertamina EP Cepu Field continued to work on resolving the impact of pipe seepage that occurred in Pojokwatu Village, Sambong District, Blora Regency, Tuesday (15/3).
As soon as a pipe crack was indicated, pumping was stopped and the block valve closed on the Menggung MOS pipeline so that the fluid flow could be stopped immediately.

PEP Cepu Field's Field Manager, Agung Wibowo, said that the pipe cracks had been closed with clamps, and his team had been monitoring the repaired pipes and other pipelines to ensure there was no more seepage.
"For the flow of tributaries, from the beginning, an oil boom has been carried out to make it easier to draw using a vacuum truck," Agung explained.
PEP Cepu Field also cleared the ditch around the area. In handling incidents, PEP Cepu Field coordinates with the local government and always prioritizes aspects of human safety, security and the environment. (Endah/ IST )
