Bulog Deploys Food Collection Teams to Rice Fields, Targeting to Absorb 22,200 Tons of Unhusked Rice in Blora

INFOKU, BLORA –The target of the Pati Branch Office of Perum Bulog is to absorb 22,200 tons of grain harvested by farmers in Blora, Central Java in 2026.

The target for absorbing unhusked rice is equivalent to 17,900 tons of rice.

According to the Deputy Head of the Pati Bulog Branch, Fadila Arief, to achieve this target, his party implemented a Food Pick-up Team system.

The team was tasked with going directly into the field to visit rice fields that were entering the harvest season.

"We have a Food Pick-up Team system. We directly visit rice fields with potential for harvest based on information from Babinsa (village supervisors), PPL (field agricultural extension workers), and related agencies," he said when met by reporters at the Bulog warehouse in Blora, Central Java, yesterday.

As of early March, absorption in the Blora region had reached 1,607 tons of rice equivalent.

Fadila is optimistic that the target of tens of thousands of tons can be met by the end of next year.

"Our target for rice equivalent is 17,900 tons. Hopefully, we can achieve this in November or December, using the best rice from local farmers," he explained.

In the absorption process in the field, the party acknowledged that there were a number of challenges, especially related to weather conditions and price fluctuations at the farmer level.

Currently, the government purchase price (HPP) for dry harvested grain (GKP) is set at IDR 6,500 per kilogram.

"Obstacles sometimes lie in weather and prices. If the price in the field is higher than Bulog's standard, we take persuasive steps and approach farmers to encourage them to sell at the government price," he continued.

To accommodate the harvest from 16 sub-districts in Blora, Bulog has prepared adequate infrastructure.

Currently, the stock available in the Blora warehouse reaches 8,500 tons.

In addition to one main warehousing complex, Bulog also rents five  subsidiary warehouses  with an average capacity of 4,500 tons per warehouse.

This capacity is planned to continue to be increased in line with the increasing volume of rice absorption from farmers.

Fadila also appealed to the public and farmers who have information about potential harvests to immediately contact Bulog or through partners in the field.

"We are always open. Farmers with harvest information are welcome to contact us, the Babinsa (village supervisory officer), or the local PPL," he stressed. (Endah/ IST )
