INFOKU, BLORA -The fire at the oil well managed by the community occurred on Sunday (17/8/2025) afternoon at around 12.30 WIB, and claimed three lives.
An atmosphere of grief truly enveloped Dukuh Gendono, following the oil well fire.
In this disaster, three people died, namely Tanek (60), Sureni (52), and Wasini (50).

Not only that, there were also two other injured victims, namely, Yeti (27) and her toddler, who are currently undergoing intensive care at Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta. They are reported to be in critical condition.
Apart from claiming lives, the fire also resulted in one house being severely damaged and three houses being moderately damaged.
A number of livestock, including six cows and three goats, were successfully evacuated.
As of Monday afternoon (18/8/2025) at 11.30 WIB, the fire was still burning with black smoke billowing high above the residential area.
According to the report of the Head of the Blora BPBD, Mulyowati, the fire started from drilling activities which are suspected to have triggered sparks.

"Around 11:30 a.m., an explosion occurred, sending sparks flying through a resident's house. Mrs. Tanek died instantly, followed by two other victims," he explained.
Regent's Handling Steps
Regent Arief Rohman together with the Blora Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkompimda) moved quickly to inspect the location of the oil well drilling that caught fire in Dukuh Gendono, Gandu Village, Bogorejo District, Blora Regency, which claimed three lives.
The arrival of the number one person in Blora, Monday (18/8/2025) morning, in addition to condolences, also provided assistance to affected residents.
Including conveying the following message regarding the steps that will be taken by the District Government together with a number of parties to immediately stop the oil well fire.
At least 50 families have now been forced to temporarily evacuate.

Due to this incident, Regent Arief Rohman together with the Blora Police Chief, AKBP Wawan Andi Susanto, Dandim 0721 Blora, BPBD, Satpol PP and Damkar, as well as BAZNAS, Monday (18/8/2025) morning, went directly to inspect the location of the incident.
"On behalf of the government and ourselves, we are deeply saddened by this incident. We offer our deepest condolences to the deceased, and may they rest in peace," said Regent Arief.
The Regent added that his party had reported this incident to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, SKK Migas, and the Governor of Central Java.
"Our main priority is to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of local residents. We have evacuated some residents to avoid further risk. This includes setting up a public kitchen for evacuees," he stressed.
Regent Arief continued , support for handling also came from Pertamina and SKK Migas.
The two institutions provided technical assistance to extinguish the fire, including suggesting a more effective method of backfilling the well with soil using excavators and drone monitoring.
In addition, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Fire Department are working to cut off the flow of oil waste to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Social Services & Baznas
It was stated that the Blora Regency Government through the P3A Social Service and BAZNAS had distributed aid to the families of the victims and affected residents.
Refugee tents and a public kitchen were set up at the village hall to meet the basic needs of residents.
" For now, residents are taking refuge at relatives' homes. Hopefully, this disaster will be over soon," the Regent concluded.
In another section, Regent Arief reminded the community that oil well management must continue to pay attention to legality and safety aspects.
"This is community land, so it could be said that this is a community well that is not yet legal. We urge the public to refrain from using it and wait for official permits in accordance with Ministerial Regulation 14 of 2025. Furthermore, this well is located in the middle of a residential area, making it highly vulnerable to danger," he added.
Meanwhile, Blora Police Chief, AKBP Wawan Andi Susanto, stated that regarding the incident in Dukuh Gendono, his party had asked for information from a number of witnesses.
"After the fire is extinguished, the Central Java Regional Police Forensic Laboratory team will conduct an in-depth investigation. We, along with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), have also coordinated to tighten monitoring of community well activity to prevent a similar incident from happening again," Police Chief Wawan emphasized.
