INFOKU, BLORA - Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic (Poltekbang) is interested in establishing a campus in Blora Regency, Central Java.
As a first step in establishing the campus, Tuesday afternoon (3/10/2023), Deputy Director 1 Poltekbang Surabaya, Dr. Prasetyo Iswahyudi met Regent H. Arief Rohman, to explore cooperation, at Bappeda Blora.
"Mr Regent, our campus is currently planning to build a new campus. Initially there were 3 alternative locations, namely the Doho Airport area, Kediri Regency, then the Trunojoyo Airport area in Sumenep, and the Ngloram Airport area, Blora Regency," said Prasetyo.
It was said that after consideration, it turned out that the Doho area no longer had land that could be used because it had all been bought by Gudang Garam for the development of the city airport area.
Meanwhile, for Trunojoyo Sumenep, the location is too far from Madura.
"That's why we chose to try going to Blora," explained Prasetyo.

To establish a campus in Blora, he continued, (Poltekbang) Surabaya requires around 4 to 5 hectares of land.
It doesn't have to be a location close to the airport, but in an area not far from the airport.
Thus, lectures will be held on campus, while practice can be done at the airport.
Hearing this presentation, Regent Arief Rohman, who was accompanied by the Head of Bappeda and the Head of the Housing and Transportation Department, welcomed it positively.
"We welcome the plan to establish the Surabaya Poltekbang campus in Cepu, Blora. Please convey to the Director, when you can come to Blora to see first hand several alternative campus locations. The district government has several land that could be an option. Later you can also get an MoU here," he said.
The Regent said he was happy, because the establishment of the flight school was in line with the Regency Government's plan which was also approved by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno, regarding the development of the Greater Cepu area.

"Pak Pratikno (Minister of State Secretary) initiated the development of the Greater Cepu area as an educational and economic center. Apart from oil and gas education, there can also be aviation education in line with the activity of Ngloram Airport. Of course the Surabaya Poltekbang can be present here," continued the Regent.
Moreover, he continued, Poltekbang Surabaya is part of the Ministry of Transportation, the same as Ngloram Airport.
"The ministers are the same, the only difference is that the Surabaya Poltekbang is under the BPSDM of the Ministry of Transportation, while the Ngloram Airport is under the Director General of Civil Aviation. These conditions will certainly be easier to communicate," he explained.
Land Grant
According to the Regent, later the scheme could be for the District Government to grant land to the Ministry of Transportation to be used as a location for campus construction by Poltekbang Surabaya.
"Like Polkesmar (formerly Poltekkes Semarang) which is under the Ministry of Health, has also established a campus in Blora. We (District Government) donated land to the Ministry of Health, then the land was used to build a campus." said the Regent of Blora.
Now the campus has been established and has become a center for health education in Blora Regency. "Polytekbang Surabaya will be able to imitate this scheme," he said.
The Regent wants Blora's children to be able to study at Poltekbang Surabaya, whose campus is in Cepu District. With the existence of this campus, the economy will definitely continue, trade and service businesses will also grow.

Prasetyo Iswahyudi welcomed the Regent's explanation.
