INFOKU, YOGYAKARTA -The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X (HB X) regrets that there has been another spike in Covid-19 cases in his province.
For information, on Thursday (24/2/2022), there were 2,866 new cases of Covid-19. This number is the highest daily addition of cases throughout the corona virus pandemic.
Therefore, HB X asks its citizens not to act arbitrarily so that they ignore health protocols while the pandemic is still spreading.
"The problem is how the awareness of the community does not decrease. In the sense of sak karepe dewe crowding, sak karepe dewe ora nggo (not wearing) masks, and so on. Because that is the most important thing because the transmission is so fast," said the Sultan in a press statement here Yogyakarta Governor's Office, Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta City, Thursday (24/2/2022).

Nevertheless, HB X stated that the DIY Provincial Government was ready to face the surge in Covid-19 cases.
There are already several shelters and hotels that are used as integrated isolation places.
"If the shelter doesn't have a problem, we have prepared it. We also have a full pearl shelter, the BBWSO Rusunawa in Kalasan," he said.
In addition to asking the public to continue to apply the health protocol, the DIY Regional Government's efforts to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases are to eliminate art events on the Malioboro Dua Terrace.
Before the spike in Covid-19 cases, every week an art performance was held on the Malioboro Dua Terrace to attract tourists to visit.

"Sundays there are crowds because in Malioboro an art performance is being held, I asked to be dismissed, because everyone is gathering there. The risk is big," said the Sultan.
The Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the DIY Government, Ditya Nanaryo Aji, added that today there were 2,866 additional cases of Covid-19 in DIY.
"The addition of positive confirmed cases in DIY was 2,866. Meanwhile, the highest daily increase in Covid-19 cases," he said in a written statement.
Ditya continued, the distribution of Covid-19 cases today is dominated by Sleman Regency with 1,111 Covid-19 cases, followed by Bantul Regency with 844 cases, Yogyakarta City with 508 cases, Kulon Progo Regency with 254 cases, and Gubungkidul with 149 cases. The total bed occupancy ratio (BOR) is 202 and 70 cases are filled, while the non-critical BOR is now a total of 1,575 and 795 or 50.48 percent have been used.(Mughnii/ IST )
